Don’t Worry

I post my Good News stories as comments on several Christian ministry pages and I noticed a strange response to one of those posts. A lady reacted to my post with a “laugh” symbol and my post wasn’t funny. I also noticed she had posted a vulgar picture and comment in response to the Ministry’s post. Unfortunately I’ve seen this type of response before. The lady was upset the “religious” message showed up on her timeline and she wanted to express her displeasure in a shocking manner. Don’t worry about the ministry. The message was soon deleted and it won’t stop them from trying to get their message out. The vulgar message wasn’t the response they wanted, but it was an indication their message was reaching the right people.

What about the one who posted the vulgar comment? Surely she has received many other “religious” messages on her Facebook page? No matter how hard you try to limit what you get, unwelcome posts will continue to appear. Why do Christian posts bother her so much? Maybe she had a bad experience in a Church or was mistreated in the name of religion. She could have been influenced by someone who hated religion. It could be she knows someone who got saved and changed and she doesn’t want that to happen to her. Someone should tell her, “Don’t worry, GOD won’t make you get saved” “for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him” (Heb 11:6 KJV) and she doesn’t. Whatever the reason, it bothers her enough that she doesn’t mind offending others.

How are we supposed to win people like her to JESUS if they are so offended by our witness? We have to try to undo the damage caused by the thief who comes to “steal, kill, and destroy” (John 10:10 KJV). Prayer should be our first and continued response. Prayer not only can help change them, but it will encourage us and help direct our reaction to them. Like JESUS, we have to love the unlovable, give to the ungrateful and do good to those who do bad to us. We have to do our part but don’t worry; the HOLY SPIRIT is doing the real work in their heart. That may be the reason she is so uncomfortable at seeing yet another Christian message.

If she really doesn’t want GOD, why should we bother? Because “God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us” (Rom 5:8 KJV) and that was before we wanted GOD. We bother because “God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16 KJV) and that is why we are saved. Don’t worry about what she wants now, because GOD wants to change her wants, so He can give her the desires of her heart (Psalms 37:4).

What if she never accepts JESUS and the price He paid for her sins, and then all that love will be wasted? Don’t worry, our love and obedience is never wasted. Even if it doesn’t change her heart and mind, if will change ours. If her heart doesn’t change she should be worried, for “broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it” (Mat 7:13-14 KJV). Destruction is spending an eternity in Hell and the narrow way is JESUS, the only way to eternal life!
