My eye Doctor called me at home on Monday, instead of our scheduled office visit. They hadn’t fully opened after the pandemic and were only seeing urgent patients. It was supposed to be a routine follow-up and I am sure he didn’t expect any problems. When I told him I was seeing what looked like a piece of thread on my eye, he asked if I was also seeing flashing lights. I said I was and he immediately walked out to get me an appointment, telling the clerk it sounded like a PVR. He didn’t say much, but by the way he responded I knew it was serious. I looked up PVR and it relates to a tear in the retina and can lead to blindness if not found and treated early. The first part of “my little miracle” was my Ophthalmologist calling and diagnosing my problem, when he could have delayed my routine appointment until it was too late.
I believe in divine healing and the power of prayer, but I didn’t have time to “call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up” (James 5:14-15 KJV) so I prayed for my own healing. Our Senior Pastor has had a healing ministry for 50+ years, since he himself was miraculously healed from a brain tumor. I remember him saying the LORD told him to “bind the spirit of infirmity and curse it at the root” so I did. JESUS told us “Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed” (Mat 18:18 KJV), so I bound the spirit of infirmity and loosed healing on my eye. My symptoms didn’t change, but I had a peace about the visit, no matter the outcome.
When I arrived at the Hospital, things were different. A lady wearing a mask was screening incoming patients for virus symptoms and few people were visible in the normally busy hospital. In the waiting area, signs marked seats not to use and whenever someone left, the receptionist would come out and wipe down their seat. I was taken to a room were my pupils were dilated and a lady took pictures of the inside of my eyes. All of the attention they paid me, while still taking precautions, added to the drama of my visit.
When the Doctor came in he was polite but went right to work. He asked for pictures from my previous visit and began examining my eyes. While shining a light in my eye he had me look up and down, then side to side and said he would explain everything when he was finished.
With the examination over, he seemed to relax as he compared my new photos to the older ones. Then he turned to me and said “I didn’t find what I was expecting.” He was expecting to find damage to my retina and that would have required immediate surgery to repair, but there was no tear! That was my little miracle! No the miracle wasn’t “little” but that JESUS took stripes to heal someone as “little” and insignificant as me is a miracle beyond description. The Doctor also said my indications of possible glaucoma were stable and hadn’t changed and everything is fine! He told me to come back in six months for a routine follow-up. Hallelujah!
Yes, you can explain away my miracle healing, but I have faith that GOD’s word is true and I am healed! That is like my faith that “God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16 KJV). I accepted JESUS as my LORD and SAVIOR, and I have everlasting life. That my friend is a big miracle!
