You see a struggling little Home-Church, holding services in the Pastor’s living room for the past year. You may have seen the services broadcast on Facebook and on You Tube. You can even see a China cabinet behind the Pastor as he is preaching, and the Praise and Worship team is setup where the dining room table used to be. As he speaks, the Pastor keeps glancing towards the overflow seating area in the kitchen. Pass by 6950 Pittman Road, in Adkins, Texas you may notice two small signs that read “Heritage Christian Ministries” by the gravel driveway and a handful of cars, in the distance, parked near the mobile home on Sunday mornings.
Maybe you noticed pictures on Facebook showing the Christian school. The children are having activities and studying in that same living and dining room. You see children of all ages surrounding the Pastor’s wife and it seems a bit crowded. You see all the smiling faces, and everyone neatly dressed in their school uniforms, but is that the real picture?
You might have noticed that Friday’s Fellowship is different. It’s the same people from the Church and/or school, but they seem relaxed. People are enjoying the praise and worship, prayer time, the preaching/teaching services, and fellowship. Kids and adults alike are enjoying time with their friends. How can they be that happy in Church on a Friday night?
You may have heard the great news? Another Ministry donated a building for their Church and School. They call it a miracle, but all you see is a portable building, that looks something like a trailer, and it isn’t new! In fact, they have been asking for help with fixing up their “miracle” building so they can use it. You might see it as a lot of trouble for an old building!
I see all of that, but from a different perspective. I see a loving Pastor and his wife going all in for the LORD. They opened their lives and their home, while placing their future in GOD’s hands. They heard “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you” (Mat 28:19-20 KJV) and are doing that where GOD sent them. They thank GOD for the souls who come to hear the WORD preached, to build up their faith, to be healed or delivered. There’s too much to do, so they appreciate those who also come to help.
I see the school as a reflection of their heart for children. Having trained up their own, they are helping others “Train up a child in the way he should go” (Prov 22:6 KJV). When another Christian school suddenly closed, they couldn’t wait for ideal conditions, so they stepped out in faith and started a Christian school that unashamedly points children to JESUS.
As for the new building, it’s a miracle that will give Heritage Christian Ministries room to grow, touch more souls, train more children, and give back Pastor Bob and Sister Kathy’s home.
GOD sees Heritage Christian Ministries and will say “Well done, thou good and faithful servant” (Mat 25:21 KJV) and will soon say “enter into the joy of thy Lord” and bring all those you led to me with you! Can you see it now? Get the vision and come join us!
