When it rains, I post “Thank GOD for the rain!” on Facebook and Tag my wife’s account. You might ask why I keep posting that. It’s because I know what it’s like when it doesn’t rain, and I am grateful when it does. Yes, I probably annoy some people, but I also have friends who agree and join in my praise. Perhaps they know how important rain is or at least appreciate my gratitude.
I have lived in South Texas long enough to see what a drought is like. We know it will get hot (100F +) for many days during the summer, but we can deal with that if we get enough rain. When it doesn’t rain for a while, the government restricts how much water we can use. With our yards drying up, that’s when we need more water, but they force us to use less so the supply doesn’t run out. I’ve seen crops and hay fields die because they didn’t get the water they needed, but running out of water would be devastating to everyone, so we must use less.
That is also the reason I thank GOD for blessing me! It’s because I know what it’s like when He doesn’t. I’m sure it bothers some people that I thank GOD so much, but I also have friends who join my praise. Perhaps they understand how important GOD’s blessings are or appreciate that GOD has blessed me!
I’ve lived long enough to know what a spiritual drought is like for myself, and I’ve seen it in others too. How could that be when GOD said he would do “exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think” and He has an endless supply? Because it also says, “according to the power that works in us” (Eph 3:20 KJV). We can limit GOD’s blessings by our own lack of faith.
How can we be more powerful than GOD? GOD will only bless as much as we believe for. That begins with salvation when “God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16 KJV). It continues throughout our lives for “he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him” (Heb 11:6 KJV).
How can I build up my faith, so I don’t limit what GOD can do in my life? The Bible says, “faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God” (Rom 10:17 KJV). That’s why reading and studying the WORD of GOD is so important. JESUS is the WORD (John 1:1) and getting to know HIM and what He has done for others will increase your faith in what He has done and will do for you!
