My nephew, Bobby, just passed away at 47 years of age, and our family is still trying to understand it all. I haven’t seen Bobby since he was a baby because he was severely handicapped, lived in Florida, and was under constant care. People might wonder how GOD could let Bobby live with that problem so long, and why He didn’t heal him. I don’t remember hearing that anyone prayed for Bobby to be healed, but I know GOD loves Bobby.
I posted one of my stories as a comment on a Christian Facebook page, and noticed someone had posted a picture with a rude remark beneath it. It was meant to cast doubt on GOD’s love for us. It didn’t change my mind about GOD, but reminded me of the religious leaders taunting JESUS as He was dying on the cross for their sins. “Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do” (Luke 23:34 KJV). They mocked, but He loved them.
He knew many would reject His love but ”God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved” (John 3:16-17 KJV).
JESUS knew He wouldn’t be accepted by most, and said “wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it” (Mat 7:13-14 KJV), which means most won’t believe. Still, He loved enough to die, “that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly” (John 10:10 KJV). Is it any wonder He commands you to love GOD with your “all” and “your neighbor as yourself” (Mat 22:37 and 39)?
