I saw a response to an ad for a Christian Church event on the internet that is all too common these days. It said, “Prove the Bible is true, and I will come.” It wasn’t a serious request, but more like the religious leaders who as JESUS hung on the cross said, “He saved others; let him save himself, if he be Christ” (Luke 23:35 KJV). The man was mocking and “Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap” (Gal 6:7 KJV).
If the man had a little bit of faith (and brokenness), the HOLY SPIRIT would have something to work with because “faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God” (Rom 10:10 KJV). He might have come with his little faith, heard the WORD and his faith increased enough for GOD to work in him. “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him” (Heb 11:6 KJV).
All he asked for was proof! People have been healed, delivered and even raised from the dead in these “modern times” but people without faith will explain it away and mock these miracles, signs, and wonders as tricks and lies. Abraham told the rich man in hell “they will not be convinced even if someone rises from the dead” (Luke 16:30-31 NIV). It takes more than proof. It takes faith and a changed heart!
