Welcome Back

My supervisor will return tomorrow from a well-deserved vacation. I will bid her a sincere “welcome back” on Monday morning. Though I was “in charge” for a while, I really missed having her in our busy office. I will have to follow her lead when she is here but that is fine because I love working for my boss!

She isn’t easy to work for. Her boundless energy and extremely high standards can make for some long, hard days. She protects “her people” while insisting that we take care of our customers. I don’t love working for her because it is easy, but because I respect and admire her. She backs her demands on us with even higher demands on herself. During her “vacation” she monitored her Blackberry (smart phone) and responded to requests. When she is here, she works harder than any three of her staff and that makes me want to help her even more. Our Embassy is huge and there is always more work to be done. Her name is Wen Yi Shu, and my job is to obey her and do what I can to help.

There is someone else I “welcome back” whenever He is away. Even though I was the boss for a while, I looked forward to His return. He leads and guides me when I follow Him. The only time He is away, is when I reject Him. Even during that time, He watches over me and hears my call for help.

When He is here, I must obey Him, but that is fine with me because I love living for Him! He isn’t easy to follow, with His great expectations and extremely high standards. Though He protects me, He insists that I give of myself for others. That means I may have to sacrifice some of myself for Him, but I don’t love Him because it is easy. I love Him because He sacrificed Himself for me before I even knew Him. He took on my burdens because I couldn’t bear them myself. His name is JESUS, and I will obey Him and do what I can for Him.
