A winter storm is passing through the eastern US, affecting 80 million people and blizzard conditions have shut down our nation’s Capital. Thousands of flights were cancelled, stranding countless travelers. On Friday, schools were closed, and authorities asked people to go home and stay warm until this danger passed through.
Of course, there are always some who fail to heed the warnings. Maybe they think they know better or can negotiate the ice and snow? Perhaps they thought it was worth the risk to get to some place? Now their cars are damaged or left along the roadway. Was it worth the risk they took? Do they have regrets? Eight people have died already, and more casualties are expected.
Another storm is passing through the land and threatening more people each day. This storm is crushing people’s hopes, dreams, and leading them down a path that leads to destruction. The warning went out long ago for people to take shelter, but most ignored it. A place was created so they can be safe, but most didn’t accept that free offer.
Maybe they thought they knew better? Perhaps something seemed more important than their personal safety. Now their lives are damaged or abandoned along the byways of life. Many have already been lost and more casualties are certain. This storm is sin, and the path of destruction leads to death and Hell (Mat 7:13-14).
The storms of sin threatened my life, and I experienced the pain of sin and have seen the destruction it causes. I heard the warning and accepted GOD’s offer of salvation. That offer was made because, “GOD so loved the world, He gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believes in him might not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16).
His offer is also open to you. He will save you from the sin that is destroying you. Once you are saved, you can sound the alarm and show others the way to GOD’s great love and salvation.
