Choices

It is wintertime in Beijing, so it’s not surprising that it has been cold. It isn’t a nice, refreshing feeling, but when the wind blows it is a bitter, bone-chilling cold. I feel bad for the people that have to work outside in this misery, but I have a choice to find shelter in a nice warm building. If I make the right choice, I will be warm. That is an easy choice for me.

In six months, I will be back in Texas, where it will be very different. It will be September and in Texas, which means it will be hot. It won’t be a nice warm feeling, but an extreme heat that is uncomfortable and will burn your skin if you are exposed too long. I feel bad for the people who have to work outside in that misery, but I have a choice to find shelter under a shaded area or in an air-conditioned building. If I make the right choice, I will be cool. That is an easy choice for me.

I have heard about the love of GOD since I was a small child attending Sunday School. Since that time, I learned of His power and how He wants to use it to protect me. He also wants to share His wisdom, knowledge, and understanding to lead me in the best path for my life. I feel bad for the people who haven’t heard or don’t believe in what GOD has for them. But I have the choice to believe the GOD of the universe wants to love me, “exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us” (Eph 3:20). That is an easy choice for me.

I have also heard, “God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16). This choice has benefits during this life, but it is so much more than that. If we choose to accept GOD’s offer to save us from our sins, we will live in Heaven with Him. If we reject GOD’s offer, we will spend eternity paying for our sins in Hell. I feel bad for people, who make the wrong choice, but I had a choice and I accepted GOD’s gift of forgiveness. That was an easy choice for me.

Approximately 150,000 people will die in the world tomorrow. Today those people can choose to believe in Jesus and have eternal life. Once they die, their choices end.
