Some people are wondering how life can go on after such a devastating loss. Loved ones whose lives are more precious to them than their own, were swept away in the floodwaters. Why were they taken so soon? Some lives were just beginning, while others were nearing the end, but all were taken too soon! They had plans and a future that were ripped away without warning. We will all die someday, but how could that be today?
The death toll grows as bodies are found, and families struggle with the loss, yet life goes on. The rains that took so many lives were welcomed in surrounding areas. The rains were answers to prayers of ranchers and farmers. Lakes, rivers and streams are filling once again, and pastures are turning green. I live 70 miles away and thanked GOD for the same rains that caused so much death and destruction. No, I didn’t want the floods, and GOD didn’t kill those people, but He “sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust” (5:45 KJV).
JESUS told us, “In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world” (John 16:33 KJV). That should give us hope for those who were taken. For the saved, life goes on in a much better place than this! The plans GOD has for them (and us) are much better than anything in this life (John 14:3). What about those who weren’t saved when they died? “God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16 KJV) and if they didn’t believe, there is nothing more we can do for them.
