The headline “30 Trafficked Children Rescued in Major City” caught my attention. I see notices of missing children every day from many states and countries, but this was different. This rescue operation was close to home! Maybe I knew some of the victims, or their families? Yes, I know San Antonio is a big city, but this is serious! I’ve seen the notices about children disappearing from local neighborhoods, but after a week or so of frantic pleas, the stories fade from the news…along with the hopes of finding them.
That is something like when a loved one passes away, and we aren’t sure they were saved. Once they die, it’s too late to help them. We try to comfort their family without drawing any conclusions, but it makes us want to be sure about those still living. Sadly, time will pass, the pain fades, and life will return to “normal”. This is too close to home to go back to “normal”.
JESUS said, “broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat” and “narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it” (Mat 7:13-14 KJV). That means doing “normal” will lead to destruction! When asked the greatest commandment, JESUS said, “love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind” and “love thy neighbour as thyself” (Mat 22:37 and 39 KJV). That is not doing “normal” and if you obey, your neighbors will be eternally grateful!
