He said, “I’d like to move to a deserted island…”, a common thought for most of us at one time or another but he is our Pastor. I didn’t ask about what was bothering him but recounted something that changed my thinking. I told him I used to want to buy 100 acres of land out in the country and live right in the middle of it, away from everyone. Then a preacher came along and said, “You can’t do anything for GOD without people” and that changed what I wanted. He was right! GOD’s heart is for people and that is what yours should be if you “love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind” and that is why “This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself” (Mat 22:37-39 KJV).
GOD put His love into action when He “gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16 KJV) and JESUS showed His love when He became “the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God” (Heb 12:2 KJV). How can we complain if JESUS asks us to suffer or risk our lives for Him? We owe Him more than we can ever repay for what He has already done, and the best is yet to come!
