While nailed to the cross, JESUS prayed “Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do” (Luke 23:34 KJV) even as they mocked and taunted Him! He was dying for the very sins they were committing against Him, but they continued in their sin. JESUS had given Nicodemus the answer when he asked, “Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God” (John 3:3 KJV). There is an important part of being born again. John the Baptist proclaimed it, and when JESUS began His ministry He said, “Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand” (Mat 4:17 KJV).
But it says “God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved” (John 3:16-17 KJV)! Yes, and JESUS told the woman who had been caught in adultery “Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more” (John 8:11). JESUS said, “If ye love me, keep my commandments” (John 14:15 KJV). How can you truly acknowledge JESUS as your LORD and Savior, if you remain in your sin?
