The Meaning of Life
That sounds like a deep philosophical question that would take volumes to explain, but when JESUS was asked what the greatest commandment was, His answer sounded rather simple. “Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself” (Mat 22:37-40).
You keep using that scripture, but if that was all there is to it, why do we need the rest of the Bible? Much of the Bible was written to show us how to follow those “simple” commands. We couldn’t follow the law, but JESUS hath made us “free from the law of sin and death” (Rom 8:2 KJV). It showed us the debt had to be paid in innocent blood, and only JESUS could take away our sins! That’s why He said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me” (John 14:6 KJV). Humble yourself and come to JESUS!
After we accept JESUS as our LORD and SAVIOR, our whole reason for being here is to point others to Him! That’s why He commanded “Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned” (Mark 16:15-16 KJV). You needed to hear the gospel, and so do they! That’s how you “love your neighbor as thyself” and your obedience is how you love GOD!
