Not Your Son!
GOD, I need you to do something! I tried to follow your law, but I keep failing! You’ve been merciful, but how can I ever serve you when I can’t keep your commandments? You reward the righteous, but my “righteousness is as filthy rags” (Isa. 64:6). How can I hope to stand in your presence when you can’t look upon sin? I’m really hurting, and the enemy is overwhelming me because he knows my weaknesses. I know “the wages of sin is death” (Rom. 6:23 KJV), and the price must be paid in blood, so it looks like I’m not going to make it. I really need your help!
I have a plan. I will send my Son to pay for your sins.
No, LORD, not your Son! How can you sacrifice your own Son for a wretched man like me? I’m guilty, LORD, and I deserve to die for my sins!
The blood of my Son is the only way to wash away your sins, for the sacrifice must be perfect!
“God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved” (John 3:16-17 KJV). “For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin: that we might be made the righteousness of God in him” (2 Cor. 5:21 KJV). That’s why JESUS said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me” (John 14:6 KJV).
