When people use absolutes in a statement, they are usually wrong. When my wife begins a sentence by saying “You always” or “You never”, she is most likely overstating the facts. I wouldn’t consider myself unreliable or inconsistent, but I couldn’t “always” or “never” do anything even if I tried! I’m just too flawed.
That’s why we must soften our statements. My wife might be more accurate if she said I did something too often or not often enough. My reply would be, “I will try to do better” or I would explain my limitations, because that’s all I can do.
There is someone who speaks in absolutes and backs them up. “God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16 KJV).
JESUS died for us, “who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God” (Heb 12:2 KJV) and He said, “I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen” (Mat 28:20 KJV), “I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee” (Heb 13:5 KJV). Can you trust Him? Absolutely!
