Our grandson just started attending a college located a few miles from our house. Two of his classes are in the afternoon and evening, with two more classes the following morning. He spends two nights a week at our house, so he doesn’t have to drive home at night, and back the next morning.
It’s a great chance for grandma to spoil him a little and he loves it! This is the first time he has stayed with us, so he was a little hesitant to ask for things. His grandma loves him and even though she kept asking what he wanted, he didn’t ask for much. Finally, he got the idea and asked for Gatorade and apples, which she bought as soon as she went shopping. All he had to do was ask!
That’s how JESUS is with us. He said, “Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works’ sake. Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it” (John 14:11-14 KJV).
Yes, there is more to it than that. When you “love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind” and “love thy neighbour as thyself” (Mat 22:37 and 39 KJV), you will realize it’s not all about you. Then, what you ask for will be to glorify GOD and bring others to Him.
“God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son” (John 3:16 KJV) and that means He loves you! “He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things” (Rom 8:32 KJV)? Go ahead and ask, believing and He will do it!
