Have you ever been broken? People don’t want to admit that because it sounds like a weakness or failure. We use that word when someone can’t go on and surrender to a greater power. Nobody wants it, but it is necessary.
How can you say that? When you are going the wrong way and desperately need to turn around, brokenness does what your pride wouldn’t allow. When you can’t go on, and surrender to GOD, you are ready to be made new!
Oh, you mean religion. No, I mean a relationship with GOD! I thought He is supposed to fix my life and bless me? The Bibles say, “God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble. Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up” (James 4:6 and 10 KJV). That’s your brokenness and GOD’s grace and mercy!
Why should I want to be broken? When you ask GOD to forgive your sins, there should be a brokenness in your spirit. That’s because you are surrendering your will and submitting to His. If there is no brokenness, and no surrender, how can you be saved?
Why must I be broken and surrender to be saved, I thought it is free? You are not paying for salvation; you are acknowledging JESUS as your LORD and Savior! Why? Because “God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16 KJV). JESUS “humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross” (Phil 2:8 KJV). If GOD and JESUS sacrificed so much for us, why would you not be broken and surrender when your failure made it necessary?
