Don’t Be Afraid

With so much uncertainty in this world, it’s natural to be afraid. Fear is a natural reaction to danger and causes us to protect ourselves. Who wants to be hurt or possibly killed? So, a little fear can be good.

The Bible says, “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom” (Prov 9:10 KJV), but that kind of fear is more like respect and reverence for GOD’s authority than being afraid. So that kind of fear is a good thing.

GOD said to Joshua, “Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest” (Josh 1:9 KJV). This wasn’t a suggestion, but a command. GOD placed a huge burden on Joshua but said He would be with him. Joshua was with Moses from the beginning, he saw the power in obeying GOD and the consequences of disobeying. Did he have good reasons to be afraid? Yes, but he had learned to trust GOD and his faith overcame his fear.

JESUS said, “Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved” (Mark 16:15-16 KJV) and “lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world” (Mat 28:20 KJV). It wasn’t a suggestion, but a command. JESUS placed a huge burden on us but said He would be with us. GOD has been faithful, and you know the power in obeying GOD and the consequences of disobeying. Do you have good reasons to be afraid? Yes, but you can trust GOD and faith will overcome your fear.
