Go To The Light

After years of driving in unfamiliar places, including years of living overseas, I have learned one valuable lesson when I want to cross a busy street. I go to the light. Yes, the traffic light so I can safely cross busy lanes of traffic. Other people will rely on their own skill or luck, but I trust the light to help me safely cross over. The consequences of failing to make it across are unimaginable and not worth the risk.

Some people don’t like the restrictions of the light. They don’t want restrictions on when they can stop or go. I don’t mind waiting for my turn, because I will be safe and so will others. It’s not always easy to get to the light. I have had to pass through parking lots or drive several blocks to get to the light, but I didn’t mind.

That’s how I see my life. Whenever I need help getting through a difficulty, I “go to the “Light” so I can safely get through. I won’t trust my own skill or luck, the consequences of failing to make it are unimaginable and not worth the risk. You may see the “Light” as a restriction or holding you back, but with the “Light” I know my turn will come. As for this light, He said, “I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee” (Heb 13:5 KJV). Yes, I’m talking about JESUS! “For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light” (Eph 5:8 KJV).

So, now what? “Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven” (Mat 5:14-16 KJV). That’s part of loving GOD and your neighbor (Mat 22:37-39 KJV), the greatest commandments!
