The Faithful –
When thinking about the faithful, maybe we need to look at some who are not. Marriages are falling apart at an alarming rate because people are unfaithful to their vows. Couples promised to “love, honor, and obey, until death do us part” but they don’t. Another group of the unfaithful is politicians who promise us the world, if we choose them. After they are in office, we soon find out they have their own best interest in mind, instead of ours. We used to be able to rely on the news media to sound the alarm when something wasn’t right. The media has chosen sides and we no longer get facts, but slanted coverage and we are told what to think. Most of these have happened in times past, but people were brought back into line by peer pressure, political upheaval and by world changing events.
We can turn to GOD to get back on track, but the Church must be ready to guide people who are in need. Unfortunately many Churches suffer from the same problems as the world. To keep up the numbers, they give people what they want. The seats have to be soft, the temperature just right, they make promises they can’t keep, the music program must entertain or the crowds will go somewhere else. Faithful Churches preach the truth and have few members because they make people uncomfortable. People want religion on their own terms and only as much as they decide. They say “Prophesy not unto us right things, speak unto us smooth things” (Isa 30:10 KJV). If the Church isn’t changing hearts and lives, how will they ever become faithful?
If the Church isn’t changing people, perhaps it is left up to us? Am I an example of faithfulness? Not me! I am an example of GOD’s grace. I have failed just like everyone else. Thankfully for us all, “God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16 KJV). Yes I try to be faithful, but only succeed because “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me” (Phil 4:13 KJV). GOD will keep His promises and we can rely on Him, because He is faithful!
