What is greater or less isn’t always as obvious at first. I know a couple who bought several moderately priced Dodge automobiles, which were unreliable and weren’t worth much after a few years. We bought a low-priced Honda Fit, put 50K miles on it, experienced unbelievable reliability and after ten years it was still worth half what we paid for it. Sadly, a greater purchase price doesn’t always mean greater quality and may result in less value.
Another example is our public schools. Public schools keep asking for more money and yet their test results are dropping. When questions arise about their failure, the answer is always more money for more staff and programs, with no guarantee of better results. Our secular colleges have a similar problem with greater costs and producing graduates with little to no wisdom, knowledge and understanding. If you have any doubts, look at what your college educated students are trying to do to our country (US)!
There is another place where the disparity is wider; in fact, it is off the scale! That is between GOD and man! GOD is so much greater that Jews won’t even say His name. Words quickly fail us when we try to describe GOD, but Isaiah had a vision and said, “I saw also the LORD sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple” and said about himself, “Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips” (Isa 6:1 and 5 KJV). We have been so blinded by the “thief” that we casually speak GOD’s name and allow His name to be profaned and mocked. There is no doubt that GOD is off-the-scale greater, and we are off- the-scale lesser that He. We need GOD’s help to open our eyes enough to begin to see how much greater He is!
That is why it is so great that “God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16 KJV). But that’s not how GODs are supposed to act! We are supposed to sacrifice for them! With GOD’s help, through the power of the HOLY SPIRIT we “May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height… And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God” (Eph 3:18-19 KJV) and know GOD > us, but He loves us more than we can begin to understand!
