I love stories where everything “turns out right.” Maybe that is from the children’s stories I love that ended in “and they lived happily ever after.” That used to be the norm for stories and movies, but now they have tragic endings. When did misery become entertaining?
I see lots of posts on the internet that tell people everything is going to turn out right if they wait long enough or work hard enough. Sadly time passes by and rarely improves your situation. You get older and hopefully wiser, but opportunities are missed and maybe you may discover you waited too long. Hard work is commendable, but doesn’t always end in success.
Another group says education is the secret to a better life, but too many spend their lives pursuing knowledge without becoming wise. Scholars discover more questions than answers and rather than improving their lives, they drag others down into their uncertainty.
Money is often mentioned as making dreams come true. So why are so many wealthy people miserable? Without financial constraints, excess becomes their downfall. The simple pleasures of love, family and friends aren’t enough for them. They are constantly looking for the next thrill, more possessions and more pleasure, but nothing can satisfy them.
Yet another group places their hopes in finding Mr. or Mrs. Right, so they can live happily ever after. Sadly, nobody can meet their lofty expectations, so when they get what they wanted they are unhappy with what they got. The other person is also disappointed and they blame each other for their unhappiness. Either they wallow in their misery or look for the right one in another person. Disappointment is certain, because Mr. and Mrs. Right don’t exist.
All these “answers” are bound to fail, because happiness only comes from the joy of a personal relationship with JESUS CHRIST. We were created with an empty space that only GOD can fill. We were born in sin and needed a Savior and “God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved” (John 3:16-17 KJV). Yes, we who have accepted His gift have eternal life!
We are literally “a match made in Heaven” and that is where we will be when we leave this world. JESUS triumphed over death, hell and the grave, so we no longer have to fear! Paul said “For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain” (Phil 1:21 KJV) and “to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord. Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him” (2 Cor 5:8-9 KJV).
The secret to living “happily ever after” is salvation through JESUS CHRIST! Give your temporary life to Him and you will gain eternal life. Then you will truly live “happily ever after” because it will never end!
