Just who does He think He is, GOD?
“And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart. And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them. But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD” (Gen 6:5-8 KJV). Why did He do that? He is our Creator and He is GOD!
The angels told Lot, “we will destroy this place, because the cry of them is waxen great before the face of the Lord; and the Lord hath sent us to destroy it” (Gen 19:13 KJV). He destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, but the people of the land continued in sin. Why? He is our Judge and He is GOD!
GOD brought His chosen people out of the bondage of Egypt and told them to go in, possess the promised land (Deu 1:8), and kill all the people who lived there “when the Lord thy God shall deliver them before thee; thou shalt smite them, and utterly destroy them; thou shalt make no covenant with them, nor shew mercy unto them” (Deu 7:2 KJV). The Canaanites were idolators, sacrificing their children (Deu 12:31), committing fornication and prostitution to their gods. The destruction of the Canaanites was judgment for their wickedness because He is GOD!
But they have different beliefs, it was their culture, or they were born that way. Why couldn’t GOD be more tolerant? Couldn’t they just get along? What gives Him the right? GOD didn’t want His people to follow their own lusts and personal choices, but to obey and follow Him! He didn’t want His people to follow gods who couldn’t save and deliver. He was fulfilling His plan to save the world! Why? He is GOD!
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved” (John 3:16-17 KJV). Why did he sacrifice His own son? Because He loves us, and He is GOD!
“God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us” (Rom 5:8 KJV). How could He make His son do that? JESUS willingly laid down His life “and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross” (Phil 2:8 KJV). Why did JESUS do that? He is GOD!
Why should you be born again and follow JESUS? He is GOD!
