Life Insurance

I recently changed my life insurance policy after getting a timely offer from an insurance salesman.  My 60th Birthday was approaching and the cost of my life insurance was going to increase dramatically.  The salesman offered to extend my policy for a longer term and at a lower price if I was healthy enough.  I thought it was worth a try to get a better deal.  If I hesitated, I might have missed out on this opportunity.

Fortunately I am healthy enough and qualified for the lower price.  Even though it is called “life insurance,” the policy won’t do anything to make sure I live longer.  The insurance company doesn’t care about me.  Based on the medical exam and questionnaire, they statistically believe I will live beyond the term of the policy.  If they are right, they will make a huge profit from me.   If they are wrong and I die sooner, they have to pay my family more than I paid them.  It won’t do anything for me, but will benefit those I leave behind.

There was another offer that I accepted a long time ago.  It provided much better benefits and for a much longer term.  I didn’t have to qualify for it and there was no exam.  I could never pay for the benefits I received.  I was desperately in need and gratefully accepted when the offer was made.  Fortunately, the offer was made by someone who cares about me and is able to provide the benefits I was promised.  These are not for my family after I die, but began paying when I accepted it.  The benefits are more than I could ever imagine and my life will literally last forever.

Who made that fabulous offer and why would He do that?  “God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16 KJV).  This offer is made to “whosoever” and that includes you.  We deserve to die for our sins, but JESUS took our place and made it possible for us to join His family.  It takes a leap of faith to believe He is willing and able to do this for you.  Please don’t hesitate, because it sounds too good to be true.  This offer ends when you do.  If you die without accepting, you can only be assured of everlasting death.
