I know a couple who have four energetic young children. When you see the amount of attention each one is given, it makes you wonder where they get the energy. You see, these are miracle children GOD gave them after they were told they couldn’t have any!
The stay-at-home mother (Vanessa) coaches at our Christian School, is a chef that provides delicious food for our Church fellowships. She creates children’s puppet shows to share the gospel on You Tube. She is a photographer, taking pictures of our Church special events to share on social media. She also has a gift of prophecy and encouragement. The husband (Andrew) works full-time, also cares for their vehicles, home and land while supporting his wife’s cooking on the BBQ grill. He fills in as choir member, as needed on the cajon (box drum), or as preacher when our Pastor is out. As if that weren’t enough (it is for most) they took on the Women’s and Men’s Ministries for the Church.
So that is where we say thanks and list all the lives they’ve touched and the burdens they lifted from others, right? What about the tent revival? Oh yes. Last year, while Texas baked under record heat and drought and most people were worried about keeping their yard alive, the LORD gave Andrew and Vanessa a vision to hold a tent revival. What! That’s so old-fashioned, nobody will come and it’s too hot! People want air-conditioning, padded chairs, and even then, they won’t come out. Besides, who would hold a tent revival when it was over 100 degrees outside?
It was the LORD’s idea and they trusted in Him. They found Apostle Nathan Sloan, who even had the tent and was willing to come. Yes, it was a lot of work. Yes, it was hot. Yes, services went way into the night. But the HOLY SPIRIT was there, hearts and lives were changed, and people were delivered! People kept coming and so they kept adding more weekends! The effects of that revival continued long after the tent was taken down, and some will last an eternity!
What did this busy couple do after fulfilling the vision GOD had given them? Did they rest on their victories and look back on what GOD had done last year? No, they are having another tent revival with Apostle Sloan. The forecasted temperatures should be much milder, but the HOLY SPIRIT will bring the fire! If you do your part, it’s going to be another great one and hearts and lives will be changed, and people will be delivered!
Maybe that’s why JESUS said the greatest commandment is “love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself” (Mat 22:37-39 KJV)? Thanks Andrew and Vanessa for your obedience and love!
