Minding My Own Business

That’s a phrase I used to hear quite often but not so much anymore. I saw it used as a woman’s job description, but I doubt her sincerity, since it was posted on her Facebook page. If she really wanted to mind her own business, she could have not had an account or limited the number of people who could see her page. Perhaps she intended to interact only with close family or friends but got caught up in the atmosphere or she doesn’t know what she is doing.

I know several people who left social media completely. Perhaps they had a bad experience or overexposed themselves and got hurt while others say it takes too much of their time. I also see profiles that are locked. Those accounts are in Moslem countries and exposure could be dangerous. I recall the Taliban used social media to track down Christians after we (US) left.

There are people with bad motivations on Facebook. Many ads are obviously misleading with outrageous claims of instant cures for deadly diseases or miracle weight loss. With all the Facebook fact-checkers who sift through our posts and block harmless pictures, they can’t (or don’t want to) block the porn, even in their advertisements. If it weren’t for the opportunities it gives me to share the Good News with a lost and dying world I would have left long ago.

So why am I sharing the Good News instead of minding my own business? I’m under orders! JESUS said, “Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned” (Mat 16:15 KJV). I can go into most of the world via Facebook. I have Facebook friends in faraway places like India, Pakistan, News Zealand, Africa, and Australia that I have never been to. I also have friends in places I have been to like the Philippines, The Marshall Islands, Canada, Mexico, and Europe. I have friends in China, but sadly can’t reach Chinese citizens. The Communists are afraid to let their people communicate freely and wouldn’t welcome the Good News.

I’ve had people resist my attempts to spread the Good News through harassment and intimidation. That doesn’t just happen in other countries, but I picked up an internet troll (directed attacks) in our local area who doesn’t like what I share. Some people don’t want to hear “God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16 KJV). That message of GOD’s great love also infers that unbelievers will perish. Mathew 16:16 clearly states “he that believeth not shall be damned” and I have been commissioned to remind people of the Good News and the consequences if they reject it. JESUS made this message my business when he told Peter “Feed my sheep” (John 21:16 KJV).

Perhaps you can make feeding sheep your business? 150,000 people die every day, and most are going to hell. JESUS told us “wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in” (Mat 7:13 KJV). Let’s help more people find the straight gate and narrow way “Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it” (Mat 7:14 KJV).
