My Favorite…

That’s what I call my grandson because he is! My favorite daughter would call that one of grandpa’s corny jokes but it’s true. If you know me very well, you will realize I only have one grandson, but he really is my favorite grandson. I used to call him my favorite grandchild until his sister came along. Then I had a favorite grandson and granddaughter!

When my second granddaughter appeared, my daughter asked, “What are you going to do now?” I replied, she’s my other favorite granddaughter, which is true! I don’t love her any more or less than her older sister. You might ask why I don’t stop calling them my “favorite” since it doesn’t mean anything special. In part because of my sense of humor and because they really are special to me. I could say they each are favored by me, and I want them to know I don’t love them less just because they are the only ones! By the way, I also have a favorite wife, daughter, and son-in-law and yes, they are individually favored by me.

That’s something like how GOD thinks of us. “God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved” (John 3:16-17 KJV) and that’s a lot of love. I love you a lot, but I wouldn’t sacrifice any of my family to save you! I might sacrifice myself, but that’s a different story.

Even though GOD loves all of us, He also loves each one of us individually, like we were His favorite! The angel came to Mary and said, “thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women” (Luke 1:28 KJV). She may not have fully realized what that meant at the time, but she replied, “Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word” (Luke 1:38 KJV). Mary believed and yielded her life to GOD and He was able to use her obedience to bring salvation to the world!

What about GOD who “commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners” (Rom 5:8 KJV) and JESUS who, “humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross” (Phil 2:8 KJV)? Because of His obedience, He became “the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me” (John 14:6). That’s why He is my favorite! Not for what He can give me now or will give me in the future, but because He first loved me and purchased my salvation on the cross!

Will you let JESUS be your favorite? You should because “He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him” (Heb 11:6 KJV) and worthy of all glory, and honor and praise! You are already His favorite, but you will only receive the benefits if you believe in and accept Him as your LORD and Savior! Don’t wait, accept Him today!
