Don’t get me wrong, I love leftovers! Our grandson is staying with us while attending college, and Grandma cooks him something new for dinner every day. I usually eat a light dinner, so his fresh, hot food doesn’t tempt me. I look forward to eating the leftovers the next day for lunch. Some people won’t eat leftovers, but my wife and I don’t waste food because we didn’t always have enough when we were growing up. We are thankful to have so much now that we have leftovers.
One who doesn’t want leftovers is GOD! When asked what the greatest commandment was, JESUS said, “Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind” (Mat 22:37 KJV). Does that sound like GOD wants whatever you have leftover? No, He wants all of you!
So, I must become a preacher or missionary and sacrifice myself for GOD? Yes, if that is His plan for your life! Or you may just have to serve Him where you are. The important thing is He and His will comes first in everything!
But what about my family? JESUS said, “He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me” (Mat 10:37 KJV). He even takes it further and said, “If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple” (Luke 14:26 KJV). He’s doesn’t want you to hate them, but He won’t take second place. He is first or not at all!
Give your all to JESUS for He is worthy! He gave His all for you!
