When my wife is doing laundry, the area in the house where she is working is completely off limits! We’ve been married for 41 years, and I have learned the hard way to leave her alone and stay far away. She won’t answer the phone and for sure won’t answer the door if someone stops by. Doing laundry and all that goes with it, is important. I hope the Rapture doesn’t happen during laundry time, because it may have to wait until she is finished.
During my 23 years in the Air Force there were many places that were off limits to me. I couldn’t use the Officer’s Club because I wasn’t an Officer. Some places were off limits to keep me safe or to keep me from interfering with important projects. I clearly understood those reasons, but one time I couldn’t attend a briefing because I didn’t have a Secret security clearance. That bothered me since I hadn’t done anything wrong and was an active duty member of our military. I still don’t know what was said in the briefing that required so much secrecy and I guess that means their security measures worked. I later found out security clearance investigations are expensive, so they only give clearances to people who truly need them.
When I joined the State Department I was given a Top Secret clearance to perform my job at U. S. Embassies overseas. That meant there were very few places that were off limits to me, but most of the Embassy complex is off-limits to the general public. For the security and safety of our mission and staff, we couldn’t have people coming and going as they please. Even U. S. citizens couldn’t enter many areas which are there to look after their interests. If they walked up to the entrance and wanted to come in, they would be told it is “off limits” to them.
That was how it was before when people wanted to get to GOD. Only certain people were allowed to approach Him in the Holy of Holies and even those people had to strictly follow a list of rules, or be killed. Adding to the problem, the Temple was in Jerusalem and few people were able to go there. With all those restrictions and difficulties, it made GOD “off limits” for much of the world. How could GOD make it so hard for people to get to Him?
Even today it isn’t easy to get to GOD. He still demands perfection. JESUS said “Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect” (Mat 5:48 KJV). Have you seen any perfect people around? Even with our ability to travel around the world, for many, GOD remains off limits.
So how are we supposed to get to GOD? Actually “God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16 KJV). That is how we get to GOD, through His Son. JESUS said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me” (John 14:6 KJV). JESUS made the way for you to get to GOD, because when He looks at imperfect you, GOD sees JESUS! That means GOD is no longer off limits to you!
