Do you prefer to follow the crowd or be on your own? The popular opinion is to follow the crowd, so you can fit in. That is why people follow trends and look for what other people’s opinions are before sharing their own. The crowd fears someone who is on their own because they can’t control them. See how the “woke movement” went from seeking acceptance, to demanding compliance, and then controlling opinion instead of reflecting it! If you are thinking on your own, it implies they might be wrong, and they can’t tolerate that!
You must be careful when following the crowd because that can lead to disaster. People in power will manipulate public opinion to their advantage. Politicians try to convince you that supporting them will make your life better. But they won’t be there when you lose your job when they fail to keep their promises. You will be on your own to face the consequences!
Sadly, the Church has much the same problem as the world. Popular opinion has replaced the WORD of GOD as our source and that should not be “For the Lord giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding” (Prov 2:6 KJV) and “ And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth” (John 1:14 KJV). We are to follow the WORD, not the world!
If you already know the truth, why follow popular opinion? That’s what people want, and we must give it, or lose them! If we follow the lost, rather than drawing them to salvation, we will become lost like they are! The world is following the thief who JESUS said, “cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly” (John 10:10 KJV). Follow the truth because when you stand before the judgement seat of CHRIST, you won’t have the crowds but will be on your own!
JESUS said, “I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee” (Heb 13:5 KJV), so how can you say I will be on my own? JESUS will be there to sentence you to Hell. You won’t be judged based on popular opinion or what is trending, but whether you are “born again” (John 3:3) or not. Don’t I get credit for the good I have done in JESUS name? JESUS will say “I never knew you” (Mat 7:23 KJV). Then you will be on your own to face the consequences of your sin!
I’ve heard I won’t be alone in Hell and some even brag about going. Others say it will just be “separation from GOD” and I will have lots of company. That’s another truth you should get from the WORD of GOD rather than popular opinion. No, you won’t be alone because JESUS said, “broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in” (Mat 7:13 KJV) so most of the popular crowd will be with you. You can blame the rich man who said, “I am tormented in this flame” (Luke 16:24 KJV) if he is wrong, because you will spend an eternity with him!
“God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16 KJV). Believe that and you will never be on your own!
