I was driving along the highway and noticed another new subdivision. That’s so common that I paid it little attention, but that sign! I’m sure it cost a small fortune to build the massive nature scene, but what caught my eye was the rusty background! Not rust color, but bare metal that had a thick coat of rust on it. Since when did deteriorating metal become art? Yes, I’m seeing it used more and more, but I still don’t get it! Don’t they want it to last? Do they want it to fail?
That’s like our lives. We need to follow the manufacturers recommendations and “Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also” (Mat 6:19-21 KJV) and apparently He doesn’t like rust either!
More important than your treasure, He wants your heart! JESUS said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me” (John 14:6 KJV). If you haven’t put your treasure in the hands of JESUS, it’s in the hands of the thief who “cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy” (John 10:10 KJV) and he will win, and you will lose!
