I saw a news report about a non-binary (identifies as neither male nor female) singer, dressed as Satan performing at a music awards show. His transgender partner stated her performance “was inspired by not being accepted by religion.” The pair won the top award for their performance. My wife commented, “you don’t play with those things” and “America is going down.” I added the world is going down and has been for a long time. Sadly, sin isn’t news anymore and it takes an outrageous performance to get noticed. As for “not being accepted by religion” religion is accepting more and more sin these days.
I used to jokingly ask our elderly Paster if the Bible had changed after we heard a denomination had voted to accept sinful behavior. He would laugh and say, no brother the WORD is settled in Heaven (Psa 119:89). It doesn’t matter what has become popular in modern culture or accepted by religion, GOD hasn’t changed His mind (Mal 3:6) “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord” (Rom 6:23 KJV).
From the beginning GOD warned about the dangers of sin. Even after Adam and Eve were cast out of the garden because of their disobedience, GOD warned Cain of the danger of sin. He said, “If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door” (Gen 4:7 KJV). Cain didn’t listen and killed his brother. When he heard the consequences of his sin, he said “My punishment is greater than I can bear” (Gen 4:13 KJV). GOD showed mercy and protected Cain by marking him so he wouldn’t be killed.
Not much has changed when it comes to GOD warning and His mercy. GOD continues to warn people “if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door” and then shows mercy when they fall. His mercy was plain to see when “he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16 KJV). People who were warned of the consequences of sin, but didn’t listen, now want to blame GOD and His people for not accepting their sin. They dismiss the idea that ALMIGHTY GOD would reject their sin and punish them. They even blame GOD for the hunger, disease, and death in this world, which is caused by their own sin and disobedience! JESUS told them “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly” (John 10:10 KJV), but they continue in their sin and reap the consequences while rejecting the mercy of GOD.
That is how it has always been. Even though “God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us” (Rom 5:8 KJV) still, “wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in” (Mat 7:13 KJV).
What if everyone rejects the Good News of JESUS CHRIST and continues down the way that leadeth to destruction? Not everyone will reject JESUS, so we must obey JESUS and go “into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned” (Mark 16:15-16 KJV). We must warn them that because of their failure “sin lieth at the door” and point them to JESUS!
