We prepared for our special guests with great care. We wanted them to feel at home and to relax while they are here. We put extra effort into cleaning our house and prepared guest rooms so they would be comfortable. My wife bought special food, fresh fruit, pastry and chocolate for them to eat. We planned places to go and things to do, so they would see our city and enjoy their time with us. We made time for them to spend with other family members and enjoy a great meal. This was our time to show how much we love them and we wanted to make the most of it.
Why are these guests so special to us? Rose is my late brother-in-law’s widow. Rose, her daughter and daughter-in-law live and work in Toronto, Canada. They have always shown respect to my wife and she loves them! Last summer they took care of her, showing her the beauty of Toronto and Niagara Falls. Susan looked forward to their visit and a chance to love on them a little bit in San Antonio.
There are other special guests that we love having in our lives. We prepared to welcome them, but it didn’t compare with what they did for us. We put extra effort into meeting their standards, but we will always fall short. You see this is not an equal relationship. Our special guests have everything to give us and we have nothing to give them but ourselves. Fortunately, we are all they want.
You see, our special guests are GOD the FATHER, GOD the SON and GOD the HOLY SPIRIT. “God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16 KJV). He loved us before we knew or loved Him. JESUS was the sinless sacrifice who died to take away our sins. The HOLY SPIRIT draws us to JESUS and is the overcoming power we need right now in our life. We look forward to a day when they won’t be “special guests” and we will live with them, in their home forever!
