It’s hard to believe how fast the world is changing. It wasn’t that long ago that marriage in our country (US) was only recognized between a man and a woman. The Federal government repeatedly defended that principle in court, and you rarely heard it mentioned in Church, because GOD ordained it, and He doesn’t change. When one President stopped defending the sanctity of marriage, same-sex marriage became law and many progressive Churches rushed to accept it. The media was quick to promote this newly won freedom. After a few high-profile lawsuits, businesses were scared into supporting what some believe to be sin.
Our community used to be conservative, but new people moved into the area, so it changed. I wasn’t too surprised when our Pastor mentioned that several Churches in our area were conducting gay marriages. I know the leaders of some denominations came out in support of that idea in the name of love and unity, and it resulted in confusion and division. That isn’t love! That’s the work of the “thief” (John 10:10).
The Bible says, “Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools…Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves… For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient” (Rom 1:22,24, 26-28 KJV). Note: That is in the New Testament and from the GOD who “so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16 KJV).
Thankfully our Pastor is standing firm on the WORD, and he asked for prayer for the Pastors and congregations caught up in this storm and an upcoming Pastor’s association meetings on the subject. While we disagree with the other Churches on many issues, we do agree on the basic salvation through the death, burial, and resurrection of JESUS CHRIST. However, we can’t stand in agreement with those who accept sin. The WORD didn’t change, GOD didn’t change (Mal 3:6), and we stand with Him! “Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness” (Eph 6:13 KJV).
