The President of the United States gave an optimistic account of his accomplishments and what he sees as the direction the country needs to go. The speech is an honor afforded the highest elected official of our land and he presented an overview of his plans and what he wants to do in the coming year.
Unfortunately, less than half of his vast audience wants him to succeed. His call for unity was met with scoffs and derision by his detractors, which includes most of the media. The opposition sees this as a chance to show their total disagreement with everything he has done or will do. The Speaker of the House had to stop her side from booing the President.
The opposition party was given a chance to provide their rebuttal after the speech, but politicians and pundits from their side will rip the President’s speech apart for weeks to come. With a booming economy, record high employment and higher wages, you would think they could find something to agree with the President on, but after the shock of him being elected, their anger and bitterness shows no limit. They want him to fail.
The truth is the state of our union isn’t all that good. Not our government and their policies, but our spiritual union with GOD. There is a great falling away from GOD and His plan of salvation. Belief in GOD is declining and most young people who attended leave the Church soon after they leave home. Churches no longer preach repentance and salvation, so people won’t get offended. Programs treat shortcomings and counseling has replaced prayer. The Church has the same problems as the world because they are offering the same solutions.
With no admission of sin, they can’t repent and be saved. With their “form of godliness, but denying the power thereof” (2 Tim 3:5 KJV) they have their religious covering, but reject the GOD’s solution and His power. Satan “blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart; that they should not see with their eyes, nor understand with their heart, and be converted” (John 12:40 KJV). Satan wants us all to fail. Does that surprise GOD? What are we to do?
The problems we are facing are nothing new and the spiritual falling away was prophesied in the Bible. GOD knew it would happen and the answer is the same as it has always been, JESUS! Like in the days of old, there is a remnant that still believes the Bible and preaches that salvation is found in JESUS. Don’t change your message to win the world, change the world with the message that “God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16 KJV).
There is nothing wrong with trying to fill the Church and wanting everyone to be saved, but JESUS said, “narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it” (Mat 7:14 KJV), so don’t be surprised when they don’t receive the Good News. We are told to “go into the world and preach the gospel” so you must take the Good News outside the Church to find the world. Many won’t accept it, but the ones that do will have everlasting life!
