Taken For Granted
We need to purposely seek after the LORD every day. We can’t let our guard down “because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour” (1 Peter 5:8 KJV). When you start taking your walk for granted, you are setting yourself up for a fall. “Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall” (1 Cor 10:12 KJV). David said, “Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.
That is why JESUS said “I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned. If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you” (John 15:5-7 KJV). If you understand that abide means to “act in accordance with” or “to live,” you get an idea of the intimate relationship JESUS wants with you.
The only thing we can take for granted is GOD’s WORD. “For ever, O LORD, thy word is settled in heaven” (Psa 119:89 KJV) You can count on it because JESUS is the WORD (John 1:1)!
