Thank GOD For The Rain!

I was up early one morning when I heard a noise that kept getting louder and I realized it was raining hard! I said, “It’s raining, Thank GOD!” because we are in a drought. We had a few showers recently but needed much more. This heavy rain was what we needed, and I hoped it would continue, and it did.

My phone alarm suddenly went off with a Flash Flood Warning, and I said a quick prayer for protection over GOD’s people. We live on a hill, but San Antonio is known for flooding and in many low places, flood water is allowed to flow across the street. Sadly, 13 people died that morning. The rain suddenly came too hard, and for too long, and torrents of water washed vehicles off the roads, killing the occupants.

Was it right for me to thank GOD for the rain that blessed me but killed those people? Yes, the same rain that ended their life sustains ours and many others. We need water to live, to grow crops, and feed livestock. The blessings of rain, far outweigh the dangers that come with it.

That rain reminds me of another blessing that means life for some, but death for many others! “God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16 KJV). How could GOD sending a Savoir be a curse for anyone? JESUS said, “He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned” (Mark 16:16 KJV).
