My wife wanted to try out a new pizza place near our home. I wasn’t that thrilled about the idea and hoped she would change her mind. She didn’t, so I followed her lead. The place was crowded, usually a sign of something good. I immediately notice all the staff was very young, casually dressed and some would say cool. Well, the place is named “Mod Pizza.”
The big difference in this place is you can select any of the toppings for the same price. That much choice excites some, but intimidates me. I intended to order a traditional pizza, but worried whether my wife could quickly make her selections. I was relieved to find a list of suggested topping combinations and Susan and I found something we liked.
We found a table, next to a young lady with multi-colored hair. She was alone and was busy on her phone. I brought our drink and went back to the counter to wait on our pizzas. My attention was on the tattooed cook, scooping pizza out of the open oven. The place was rather messy, but that didn’t bother anyone and the line of customers was even longer than before.
I was relieved when our pizzas came out looking delicious. I took Susan hers first and was a bit surprised when she waited for me to begin eating. We prayed over our meal and begin enjoying some of the best pizza I have had in a while. The crust was slightly burnt, like I love and the ingredients were perfect. We intended to take some home, but I didn’t leave much.
I returned from getting a box for our leftovers, to see Susan handing a card to the lady with the colorful hair and saying “If you try it, I think you will like it.” While I was thinking about pizza, my wife had been a witness. I figured my normally shy and self-conscious, Filipina wife had given the lady an invitation to the Church she attends with her sisters. Their Pastor asked them to hand out the cards and Susan had expressed regret for not doing so. Susan used to surprise me when she did something like that, but not anymore.
When we got in the car, Susan said “You are going to be surprised at what I did.” I guessed she had given out one of the cards, but that wasn’t all. The young lady had asked what her Pastor thought about lesbians. That could have ruined her witness, but Susan replied, “Well you should read your Bible and that is between you and GOD.” Susan was worried that she had said the wrong thing, but she nailed it. That lady didn’t want to hear that she was going to Hell for her sins. She needs to be pointed to where she can find the answers, straight from GOD. That happened on Good Friday. Hopefully she will hear, “God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16 KJV). Yes, she will have to repent of her sins and be saved, but she needs to hear about the love of GOD first.
