Whosoever Believeth

“We are each free to believe what we want and it’s my view that the simplest explanation is there is no God” (Stephen Hawking, 1942 – 2018). He was supposed to know what he was talking about and repeated his disbelief in a book compiled before his death that was entitled “Brief Answers to Big Questions.” People came to this world-renowned theoretical physicist for answers, not to convince him or correct his views on any subject. I don’t know if he took that belief to his grave, but I doubt he would have easily changed his mind.

One thing you can be sure of is that he believes in GOD now. If Mr. Hawking didn’t accept JESUS as LORD and SAVIOR before he died, he bowed before Him as Judge. “For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad” (2 Cor 5:10 KJV).

How do you know that he did bad? Unbelief is sin and “without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him” (Heb 11:6 KJV). If he didn’t believe and accept the gift of salvation, he must pay the price. “And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire” (Rev 20:15 KJV).

But he suffered from Lou Gehrig’s disease for 55 years, wasn’t that enough? Stephen Hawking was blessed with a great mind but “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom” (Prov 9:10 KJV). JESUS said, “Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God” (John 3:3 KJV).

How could a loving GOD send anyone to Hell? “God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved” (John 3:16-17 KJV). GOD’s gift of salvation is open to “whosoever believeth.”
