You Are A Mother

I know you have gone through a lot and you have a whole list of reasons why things turned out the way they did, but all of that is behind you now. No reasons, no explanations, and no more excuses. You are a Mother!

You’ve been thrust into the Super Hero category and have special powers to help you overcome anything! (If only that were true!) The only special power you have is prayer and your love for that child. You are responsible for that precious life coming into this world. He (she) will only have a good life if you do a lot better than you have done so far. Excuses won’t feed that baby when he is hungry, or sit up all night with him when he is sick. If you don’t work hard enough, he won’t get the things he really needs in life, like a work ethic and self respect.

If you both survive the baby years, it will be easier, right? No. You will be the parent that “don’t know nothing” and “never lets me do anything.” You will get answers like “whatever” and “you can’t make me.” In the midst of those battles, you will have to “Train up a child in the way he should go” (Prov 22:6) in a world that is pulling him in the other direction. If you fail at this job, he is more likely to spend eternity in Hell.

Well everything should all better after he has grown up, right? You already know the answer to that one. When he pulls away you won’t stop loving him, but he has everything you and GOD put in his heart. If you trained him up right, he will know how to get back home. If you don’t see the reward for all your hard work in this life, it will be worth it all when you see him in Heaven and he says, “Thanks Mom!”
